When Matt Gahm’s brother told then new-to-Dallas Cola Buskirk that Matt was “everything [she wanted] and more,” he was right. He played Cupid, giving Cola’s phone number to Matt, who offered to help her move. After the heavy lifting was over, they went for a walk that ended up lasting for two hours in 106-degree heat. “We were so hot and sweaty but couldn’t stop talking,” remembers Cola. A year later, Matt took Cola on a walk through Flippen Park and got on one knee behind the gazebo. Cola asked him to repeat the question five times, wanting to remember the moment. When it was time to plan, Cola’s vision for her day was a balance of beauty and fun. “We wanted it to just be a big party with all the people we love,” Cola says.

Family Dinner

Cola’s vision was “an elegant celebration that felt like an intimate dinner at home with family and close friends,” says planner Devon Hinojosa of Hinojosa Events, who created spaces that looked lived-in.

Young Love

Cola and Matt opened the dance floor by taking a spin to “You Make Me Feel So Young” by Frank Sinatra. The couple’s names featured prominently in elegant script throughout the reception space.

Eat It, Too

In addition to a classic wedding cake, this berry-adorned confection was enjoyed by guests. “Every detail, from presentation to flavor, was tailored to create an experience that felt both refined and personal,” says Cola.
