See Inside This Omni Barton Creek Wedding Decked Out in Florals

Allie Grace Decker & Tyler Schouten

April 26, 2025

Over the course of their relationship, high school sweethearts Allie Grace Decker and Tyler Schouten often drove to Fort Worth from their hometown of Stephenville, Texas, on the weekends and passed the Fort Worth Botanic Garden on the way. “It became kind of an inside joke between us about Tyler promising to take me there and us never getting the chance to go,” Allie Grace says. After dating for seven years, the couple finally made the trek, with Tyler proposing in the Rose Garden. On their wedding day, flowers remained an important focus for the bride, who carried a re-creation of her mother’s wedding bouquet as a tribute to her mom. “Moms don’t get to really have their moment of recognition,” she says, “and that was the best way I could’ve thanked her.”

D Weddings: Briefly, tell us the story of how you met and got engaged.

Allie Grace: Tyler and I have known each other since childhood, but began our relationship in high school. We would drive up to Fort Worth from our small hometown of Stephenville, TX on the weekends, and drive past the Botanical Gardens. It became kind of an inside joke between us about Tyler promising to take me there and us never getting the chance to go. When November of 2023 came, we had been dating for about seven years and he set up a date for us to go to the gardens and then do a special dinner after. After walking the property, we finally made it into the Rose Gardens, where Tyler’s aunt, who is a professional photographer, was hiding out for our special moment when he got down on his knee and popped the question!

D Weddings:What was your vision for your wedding day?

Allie Grace: For the vision, we really wanted a timeless, floral, spring wedding. My wedding planner came up with the most beautiful vision board and plan from just the few things I told her we liked. It felt so intimate even though it was a large wedding!

D Weddings: What did you learn from the wedding-planning process?

Allie Grace: Throughout the wedding planning process, I definitely learned that you cannot please everyone and that it is extremely important to be honest about what you truly want for your day, because once it’s here you can’t change it. I also learned not to stress about the little things, because you most likely won’t notice them on the day of anyway!

D WeddingsWhat were the most important or meaningful elements of your wedding? Why were they significant?

Allie Grace: The most important thing for us was to keep the whole day feeling very meaningful and intimate with all of our family and friends. It truly felt like we got to celebrate the evening with every single person that came to support us.

D WeddingsWhat personal touches, if any, did you incorporate?

Allie Grace: We added in a reserved chair for my husband’s late cousin, Jayden, which was extremely special given his unexpected passing. I also decided to dedicate my mom by having my florist recreate her bouquet from her wedding day that my great-grandmother hand made for her. My great-grandmother started a floral shop in their small town of Granbury, TX many many years ago, which is where all of the women in my family grew up. We truly grew up all loving flowers and having such a passion for them, so incorporating so many florals throughout my wedding was very important to me.

D WeddingsWhat were some of your favorite moments from the day?

Allie Grace: My favorite moment from the day had to be when we got to do our reception reveal. When we walked in, it truly felt like walking into a greenhouse ballroom. The smell of the flowers is something I will never forget and just made the day so special to have that moment. My husband would probably choose our reception as his favorite memory given the amazing band that we had. They made our night so incredibly unforgettable and I don’t think anyone left the dance floor all night!

D Weddings: Were there any surprises?

Allie Grace: The floral dedication to my mom would be our only surprise and it was just such a special moment for us. I feel that moms don’t get to really have their moment of recognition and that was the best way I could’ve thanked her.
