Heaven Scent: How to Find Your Perfect Wedding-Day Fragrance

Unlike your dress, your wedding-day fragrance is something you can wear again and again. Choose wisely.

Bottled Up

In May, vaunted fragrance maker House of Creed opened an outpost in NorthPark Center. The Paris-based perfumery boasts more than 260 years of experience and uses the highest quality essential oils to craft fragrances for both men and women. Outfitted in brass and Carrara marble, the posh Dallas boutique features a VIP room for appointments and events.

Ritzy Spritz

Sure, you can pick up a ready-made perfume at Krigler, now open in the Ritz-Carlton Dallas lobby. (How about “America One 31,” worn by the likes of JFK and Ernest Hemingway?) But for brides and grooms who want something truly personalized—and have $60,000 to spare—the scent sommeliers here will get to know your whiff whims and create a bespoke bottle that, like your soon-to-be-spouse, is yours alone.

On the Nose

The Conservatory’s resident fragrance expert Shasa Mitcham chooses five scents for the modern bride.

Research suggests that scent memory is the strongest of all the senses, so don’t let your wedding perfume be an afterthought. Shasa Mitcham, wellbeing manager at The Conservatory,  selects five bridal fragrances that will stand the test of time—and transport you back to your big day every time you spray them.

All available at The Conservatory

“Last Night”

$300 at Edward Bess

With a burst of tart tangerine mixed with smoky rose and a tinge of leather, Shasa calls this eau de parfum “seductive and enchanting.”

Liis “Lucienne”

$165

Shasa describes this as “a bright, fruity floral that evokes a feeling of pure joy and optimism,” citing notes of lemon, dragonfruit, magnolia, and lotus flower.

“Rosa Gardenia”

$100 at Santa Maria Novella

This “blooming bouquet” in a bottle is brought to you by the world’s oldest apothecary. In addition to gardenia—which, Shasa notes, symbolizes purity as well as new beginnings—expect fig, almond blossom, and sandalwood.

Veronique Gabai “Heart”

$150

“Veronique Gabai’s ‘Aroma’ collection is more than just perfume; it’s aromatherapy,” says Shasa, who’s a fan of this citrus-centered scent that’s blended with essential oils to elevate your mood.

“Lust in Paradise”

$245 at Ex Nihilo Paris

Lychee and peony give this French Riviera–inspired fragrance an undercurrent of “escapism”—perfect, Shasa says, for your honeymoon.
