Planning a Wedding in Each Neighborhood: Uptown

The Dallas-Forth Worth area spans 385 miles. Each neighborhood that composes the city presents it’s own set of creative minds and vibrant characteristics, so we got to thinking. What if we were to plan a wedding in each neighborhood, using only the vendors present in that neighborhood? Is it even possible?

We found that it was more than possible, and that the results looked a whole lot like a wedding we would like to be invited to.

Here’s a disclaimer: We didn’t include planners or photographers in the line-up since they travel to you anyway. If you are looking for recommendations, jump on our online directory

This week we tackle Uptown.

Uptown

With its plush lawn, ornate interior, and renowned culinary department, the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek boasts several ceremony and reception sites within the same venue: wed in what is usually the dining room then take the celebration outside under the stars; say “I do” on the pavilion, then process inside for a night of sipping bubbly between the historic walls; tent the lawn and have both celebrations in the same place—the options are endless.

But before you get to the actual nuptials, there are a few steps you have to take, and Uptown has got you covered. Department stores are the universe’s gift to the wedding planning process—a one-stop shop for your every need. After you say “yes” to the dress at Stanley Korshak Bridal, enter the main part of the store to find your bridesmaids’ dresses, shoes, and other accessories (can you say “clutch?”), then grab your guy and coast down McKinney until you reach the West Village. Find your dude’s drawls and other clothing items at Suit Supply, and while you’re there, pick out looks for the groomsmen, too. When you’re done there, take a load off and grab a latte or juice at Brewed + Pressed. Remember, this is supposed to be fun! In our book, it’s always time to treat yourself.

While you’re in the West Village with your soon-to-be hubby, jaunt over to Spence Diamonds to look for wedding bands—Spence is unique in the fact they offer lab-grown diamonds, and if you’re not familiar with the concept, we did a little research for you. Before you leave the neighborhood, order macarons from Bisous Bisous as a very-millenial (and instagram-worthy) cake alternative.

Now that you’ve got some bags secured, it’s time to continue planning. With a resume filled with celebrity weddings like Joe Jonas and Kacey Musgraves, travel a little east and book Bows and Arrows for florals. Then as the day continues to near, plan your bachelorette party in Uptown. With spots like MYX Blend Bar, Soul Cycle, and Verbena Parlor + Social House, there’s a little something for everyone.

The planning is done. Your bachelorette is over. The long-awaited weekend is here. After you’ve practiced your parts, head to Truluck’s for the rehearsal dinner. The next morning, pay a visit to the Crescent Hotel for spa treatments and Drybar for blowouts. Prepare yourself because the day will go by in a flash, so devise plans to make it last as long as possible. An after party at Clover Club post-reception and breakfast at The Henry the morning after will do just the trick, helping to prolong the celebrations.
