The Dallas Girl’s Guide to Charleston

Thinking destination? Thanks to its southern graces, Charleston, South Carolina may just fit the bill. We’ve rounded up nine Dallas venues and matched them with their Charleston counterpart so you’ll know where to go in the Holy City without even having to leave the comfort of your own home.

If you like the Dallas Museum of Art, then you’ll love the Gibbes Museum of Art.

Gibbles Museum of Art

Unlike the DMA’s modern sensibilities, the Gibbes Museum of Art’s Beaux Arts architecture lets you travel through time. For intimate gatherings (70 seated), surround yourself with Tiffany-style glass in the rotunda gallery, or embrace the outdoors in the Lenhardt Garden and take advantage of its adjoining lecture halls (up to 350 seated). Perfect for the art historian bride.

Hotel Bennett

Though this hotel is a new build, not a single detail has been overlooked. While your guests enjoy the suite life should they choose to stay on-site, host your event in the Crown Ballroom for up to 350 or choose the more intimate Observatory and Piazza.

If you like the Room on Main, then you’ll love The Cedar Room

Sanctuary

This industrial space is flooded with natural light, much like The Room on Main. Built in 1881, the exposed-brick space sits within the Cigar Factory, which functioned as a textile factory, cotton mill, and (you guessed it) cigar factory for decades. In 2015, it opened as the event space it is today. Take advantage of the historic wood columns and blond reclaimed wood floors to host up to 300 inside, or go intimate with 150 in the courtyard.
