When a Dog is the Bride’s Best Friend

These Dallas canine lovers invited their furry friends to the wedding.

Hayes & Kamerbeek: Jennifer Yarbro “Marvin Stanley has lived all over the state with me and will soon be traveling with us to Thailand for Jason’s job relocation. Marvin had to be part of my big day—he kept me sane! While he wasn’t technically in the wedding, he did attend both the ceremony and reception and partied until the wee hours with the best of them.”

Grall & Pickering: Aves Photographic Design

“I got my French bulldog Henry as a puppy, and he has been the center of my world since then. He is a complete and total ham and the most lovable thing. I knew he needed to get dressed up with me for my bridals, and I am so glad he played along! Out of the Garden created his flower collar using the same flowers from my bouquet. They did an amazing job on it.”

Huie & Bell: Jennifer Yarbro“We were so excited to find a great location at Marie Gabrielle that would allow us to have the dogs. Dax and Brinkley are such a huge part of our lives, and it was pretty much the only request my husband had for the entire wedding! We had them wearing the little dog tuxes that they were wearing when Chris proposed to me. Chris had one on each side as he walked down the aisle. We couldn’t believe how well behaved they were. I think they knew it was a very special day!”

Stewart & Charny: Kelly Kate Photography “Sunny, my parents’ standard poodle, was our honorary ring bearer and had an awesome flower-laden collar designed by Rusty Glenn. He’s very photogenic! We also had a pair of porcelain dancing poodles as our cake topper, so it all tied together.”

—Sasha Stewart, who married Nate Charny on April 19, 2013

Stewart & Charny: Kelly Kate Photography “Ellie is a 10-year-old Pomeranian I adopted from The Bill Foundation over four years ago when I was living in Los Angeles. She was the ring bearer in our wedding, although she was dressed more like the bride: with three strands of pearls and a ruffled white tulle skirt complete with a train! My mother-in-law is Carla Martinengo (of the haute couture boutique in Preston Center), and Ellie’s outfit was her custom design.”

—Nicole Stewart, who married Anton Schlesinger on September 22, 2012
