Say “Yes to the Dress” on National Dress Day

Choosing your wedding dress is one of the most significant parts of your wedding planning experience, and what better way to celebrate that than taking a look back at some of our favorite bridal gown moments on National Dress Day, March 6th. Whether it be a custom-made gown like Alana Newhook’s or Sarah Sabatino’s family-crafted ensemble, every dress holds something personal to each bride.

For Alana Newhook, a rehearsal, ceremony and exit dress were all necessary for emphasizing this bride’s special day. “I think every bride should go a bit out of their comfort zone, and a reception dress is such a fun way to do that,” she says.

With elegant sparkle and magnificent design, some might argue that each of Anna Cooks’ gowns incorporated real magic. Designed by Reem Acra and Ines De Santo, these gowns displayed the Harry Potter–obsessed bride’s style perfectly.

Whoever said four’s a party, must have been talking about Emily Herren’s nuptials. When the fashion influencer wed her beau Lee Travis, she wanted the big day to be as memorable as possible. Adorning four dresses from Nardos Iman and Monique Lhuiller was the perfect way to do so.

Sarah Sabatino’s mom handmade her wedding dress, making the gown extra personal. “We’re really close,” Sarah says of her mom. “So it was special to have her be such a big part of the day.”

Though Vinita Demla and Colt Castner came from different backgrounds, the couple found a perfect way to balance their Hindu and Western–fused wedding. Handcrafted in India, Vinita’s reception dress was a beautiful way to pay homage to her culture.
